Joy, 34

"I found myself forgetting to try to hold in my gut, or hide behind my arms, or make sure no one could see my flaws. I just felt attractive and a little like a diva.

An introduction from the photographer: Joy has been a friend of mine for quite a long time and I have always thought she was beautiful, witty and fun. Hell... she was one of my badass bridesmaids. I was unaware of her aversion to the camera until I told her that I would shoot a boudoir session as a birthday gift. HOW COULD I HAVE LET THIS HAPPEN TO MY FRIEND!? It took a shopping trip to Walmart for the Smart & Sexy Curvy line of matching bras and panties (highly recommend) and suggesting a dudoir for her hubby to get her to shake her fears and it was the best time with the both of them that I have ever had. I'm so glad I could do this for one of my dearest friends and I hope the confidence it gave her never wears off. Joy's a fox.

From Joy: I have always been your typical "I don't take good pictures" person. I would refuse any photos and it basically came down to my husband doing a dudior and seeing that experience (This was such a blast! I highly recommend it!) to convince me to do it. Kristy has this natural ability to put you at ease. She has a way of making you enjoy the camera in a way I know I have never done before. She loves what she does and her obvious enjoyment and helpful leads made the experience something I never imagined, fun. Having my husband there and her ingenious idea of including him, made it playing for the camera and a game that was easy as breathing. I found myself forgetting to try to hold in my gut, or hide behind my arms, or make sure no one could see my flaws. I just felt attractive and a little like a diva. When we got the pictures back, I was stunned that I could look like that. Kristy's care and exceptional talent gave me proof to myself that I have been limited by my own ridiculous standards. Since then, I don't shy away from the camera and I have been playing with hair and makeup. (I'm not the girly type, so this is pretty huge.) I have more confidence and isn't it all about the attitude anyway? I am so grateful for this experience and the gorgeous photos that I can treasure forever.
